History
CHARTERED: April
17, 1990 with seven members. Currently 39 member companies.
GOALS: Develop generic
data base on premise that spray drift behavior is independent
of active ingredient. Support current and future Part
158 registration requirements for spray drift data for member company
products.
STATUS:
The field testing is complete. Reports have been written
and submitted to the US EPA. EPA has reviewed all the Task
Force data and is preparing a response for each study
area.
INNOVATIVE
APPROACH: By pooling the resources of the member
companies, the Spray Drift Task Force, SDTF, with the cooperation and
encouragement of the US EPA Office of Pesticide Programs, was able to
develop a database of drift studies. The field drift studies, when
combined with evaporation data and over 2000 atomization measurements
enabled the SDTF to identify and in many cases quantify the relationships
between the application conditions and the magnitude of off target
movement of pesticides during application.
